To understand what coaching is, let’s begin with what coaching is not:

Coaching is not counseling, which provides guidance and advice to particular problems.

Coaching is not therapy, which addresses problematic behaviors, mental or emotional issues, or past trauma.

Coaching is not mentoring, which focuses on influence, role modeling and direction.

Coaching IS the process of examining a client’s goals, discovering the obstacles or barriers that the client identifies as roadblocks, and choosing a course of action for the client to obtain success. Coaching is client-focused.

Remember- in sports and in life, the player is encouraged to perform to his or her highest capability, but the coach never touches the ball.

Coaching as a profession can include specialty areas such as Life and Personal Coaching, Mental Health and Wellness Coaching, Career Coaching, Relationship Coaching, Spiritual Coaching, and Financial Coaching. Although many coaches prefer to choose a specialty or niche area to focus on for coaching, our training will ensure that you are prepared to assist clients in all areas of life.
